Kabale district has registered 93 cases of tuberculosis in the last eight months which worries health officials in the district.
According to statistics from the health department of the district, the cases were registered across both private and health facilities between January and August this year from a total of 24023 people who were screened for tuberculosis.
The acting Kabale District Health Officer Alfred Besigensi, said that the cases have increased compared to less than 70 cases that were registered last year
Besigensi said that the increase was escalated by the COVID-19 lockdown where people were reluctant to visit health facilities due to suspended public transport.
Besigensi urged local and opinion leaders at all levels to carry out sensitization programs on how they can fight TB.
