Ugandans have been challenged to embrace technical skills as one way of eradicating the problem of unemployment.

This was said by the principal Nyamitanga Technical Institute Gilvazio Bafaki during their first graduation ceremony in 69years held yesterday at the Institute premises yesterday.

A total of 4671 students graduated with certificates in various skills of which 3500 were males and 1171 were females

He noted that it’s rare to find a student who has come from technical institutes on the street looking for Jobs.

Bafaki asked the graduates to be relevant in the societies by applying the skills obtained to transform them.

At the same function, the Archbishop Mbarara archdiocese Rt Rev Lambert Bainomugisha requested the government through the ministry of education to elevated Nyamitanga Technical Institute to a technical college so that it can train national diploma in engineering courses.

In his remarks Ketty Lamaro the permanent secretary ministry of education and sports who represented the minister of the education revealed that as the ministry they are going to look into the request

Lamaro however, applauded the parents and learners for blessing the vocational training as one way of fulfilling the government goal of skilling Ugandans.
