The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) is carrying out a census mapping exercise ahead of the May enumeration exercise.
The executive director for the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, Dr. Chris Mukiza, says they are mapping all the households, with 87 percent of the mapping exercise in villages so far completed.
Dr Mukiza explained that the remaining 13 percent covers the 10 cities as well as Kampala Mukono and Wakiso.
He explained that these areas are densely populated, making mapping cities difficult. He says, they are procuring 120,000 tablets which will be used in the enumeration exercise.
He says the census night will be carried out on May 9, 2024, and the actual census will kick off on May 10, 2024, and it will take 10 days.
The National Population and Housing Census (NPHC) is normally carried out after every ten years.
The last Census mapping was undertaken by UBOS in 2012/13 in preparation for the 2014 National Population and Housing Census.
