A Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) soldier is in custody for his alleged involvement in the attempted murder of Stephen Mubalya, a security guard at Multipurpose Hall in Kasese town.

The suspect, Jimmy Masereka from the armored brigade, along with Michael Mulimira, both residents of Kisagazi in Kasese municipality, reportedly attacked and assaulted Mubalya with a sharp object while on duty.

Due to the severity of his injuries, the victim was immediately rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital in critical condition.

Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Police spokesperson, says that investigations are underway to determine the motive behind the incident and gather additional information for the prosecution of the suspects.
