Police in Mbarara City are investigating a case of sodomy of a 22 year old male adult resident of Kisenyi cell Kakoba ward Mbarara City by a businessman in Mbarara Central Market.
According to Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Regional police spokesperson, the suspect identified as Nelson Tumushabe took advantage of the victim in the pretext of getting him a job.
According to the victim who preferred anonymity, on the 09/10/2023 at around 07:30pm, when he was in search for a job around the Mbarara City, he met the suspect at Mailo two on Masaka Road where the suspect stopped him and had pretended to be conversant with the victim and inquired what he was doing in Mbarara City.
The victim revealed to him how he was looking for a job which the suspect promised to give him then the suspect took the victim to his home which is located in the same area and it was at around 01;00am in the night of 10/10/2023, that the suspect turned against the victim, threatened him and forcibly had anal sex with him.
In the morning the suspect took the victim for breakfast and later proceeded to Mbarara Central Market where he works and it’s at that stage, that he informed the victim that since he didn’t have a national identity card it was going to be hard for him to be hired as result the victim went and reported the matter to police which led to arrest of the suspect.
According to Kasasiira, when the team of police proceeded to the scene of crime they recovered 22personal lubricants-water base oil,52 condoms,19strips of HIV testing kits and 02tins of ARVs.
Kasasira says inquiries are still ongoing and after the suspect will be taken to court.
