Shock and grief engulfed the residents in Nyantungu cell in Bukiiro town council in Mbarara district after a primary two pupil at Nyantungu primary school committed suicide on Monday afternoon by hanging himself from an avocado tree
The deceased has been identified as Isaac Zamukama, 10, a son of Didas Nuwagiira, a resident of Nyantungu cell in Bukiiro town council in Mbarara district.
According to David Kitengye, the mayor of Bukiiro Town Council, the deceased had a misunderstanding with his elder brother and later decided to commit suicide by hanging.
He asked parents to be keen on their children during the holidays by monitoring them.

Jonath Mugume, the headteacher of Nyantungu Primary School, said the incident occurred after the school had sent pupils home for the second-term holiday.
He said the deceased had been sent by his mother to the bush to tie up the goats,but was later discovered hanging on an avocado tree.
Mugume said they are still in shock, trying to find out what could have triggered the death of such a minor

Police retrieved the body and transported it to Bwizibwera Health Centre IV for a postmortem, but they have not yet issued an official statement regarding the matter.
