Farmers in Buhara Sub County are counting losses following a heavy downpour, which destroyed their crops and roads yesterday evening.

The heavy rains that started at around 5PM lasted for over two hours and destroyed crops, gardens of bananas, cabbages, beans, among other crops.

Some of the roads destroyed by the rains include; Kabanyonyi-Kafunjo road, Kabanyonyi-Nyamukyengyere road and Kabanyonyi-Kagweru road.

The most affected villages are; Kabindi, Kabanyonyi, Ruborooga, Kafunjo and Karweru.

The residents led by the LCI chairman of Kabindi cell Simon Turyamuhangi, appealed to the government and other well-wishers to come to their rescue.

The Kabale district Secretary for Works and Technical Services who also doubles as the district councilor for Buhara Sub-county Johnson Baguma said that the residents have lost a lot of property and need
urgent support.

He said that the district authorities have already assessed the damages and will send the road equipment to open the roads before this week ends as they mobilize for the relief aid.
