CONFUSION: NRM DECLERES JANE BAINOMUGISHA FOR IBANDA DISTRICT FLAG BARELY A WEEK AFTER DECLEARING THE INCUMBENT KARISA

National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission has revoked its earlier declaration of Jovorine Karisa as the flag bearer for Ibanda district Woman parliamentary seat.

According the letter of notification of the flag bearer dated October 13th 2020 signed by John Arimpa Kigyagi the deputy chairperson of the NRM electoral commission said that Jane Bainomugisha Kabajungu is the duly elected NRM flag bearer for the elective position of Ibanda district woman representative to parliament.

This comes after the NRM tribunal had cancelled Bainomugisha’s win and declared Karisa as the flag bearer in a letter dated October 3rd 2020 citing irregularities in the September 4th NRM primary election.

However, according to reports, the NRM Central Executive Committee which sat last week overturned the tribunal’s decision and directed that Bainomugisha was the duly elected flag bearer.

Jane Bainomugisha was the first to be declared by the NRM district registrar but Karisa contested the results and petitioned the tribunal.

It remains unclear if Karisa will concede or she will proceed to court for redress.
