EMBRACE YOUR OWN, UWA WOOS UGANDANS ON DOMESTIC TOURISM

editor
By editor

Ugandans have been encouraged to embrace domestic tourism if development in Uganda’s tourism sector is to be more realised.

This was sounded by Bashir Hangi the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) head of communication and public relations during a meeting with a delegation of Journalists from Mbarara city who visited Lake Mburo National Park Yesterday.

Hangi revealed that poor infrastructure and accommodation facilities are some of the biggest hindrances that has greatly affected domestic tourism.

He is now calling upon able investors to invest in the tourism sector in terms of building affordable hotels in the parks as one way of bringing services closer to the tourism public.

He also called for mindset change, explaining that most Ugandans think that tourism is for foreigners which is not the case thus encouraging the public, especially media to take up the initiative of sensitizing the masses about benefits of tourism and conserving such places.

Lake Mburo National Park is Uganda’s smallest Savannah National Park located in south western Uganda conveniently close to Mbarara- Kampala the highway.
