By editor

The RDC Mbarara Emmy Katera Turyabagyenyi has directed the parish Chiefs and town agents to implement the presidential directive and forcefully remove all those conducting illegal activities in wetlands.

RDC Katera sounded the warning while sensitizing parish chiefs, town agents and sub county chiefs and town clerks of Mbarara district in a meeting conducted at the district headquarters in Bwizibwera.

He warned the general public that without active wetlands there is no life thus calling for concerted efforts to fight all agents of environmental degradation.

Turyabagyenyi said that whoever tries to resist the directive of the parish Chief or town agent must be reported to the office of the RDC and harsh action taken without fear or favour.

The RDC clarified that parish chiefs as the bottom implementers of government projects.

The Mbarara district natural resources officer Bagambe John requested all those suspected to be involved in degradation of wetlands and wetland abusers in the surrounding areas to vacate within thirty days because the sub county chiefs and town agents have been officially sanctioned to enforce evictions as per presidential directive.
