The Ministry of Education has concluded inspection of schools and recommended at least two options for reopening of schools on January 18th.

One option is that only pre-candidate classes of Primary 6, Senior 3 and Senior 5 may be allowed to return to school with the rest of the classes waiting a little longer.

The second is to have all the classes report back but be divided to study in sessions on different days in a week to allow space between individuals as one way to control the spread of coronavirus.

A source close to the Ministry of Education, who requested for anonymity, told our reporter that a draft inspection report was submitted to the Permanent Secretary (PS), Alex Kakooza, on Saturday and awaits discussion by the ministry’s top management to conclude on the various options recommended by the inspection team.

Kakooza acknowledged his team had concluded inspection and that the ministry’s top management will be sitting to discuss the contents as they wait for the full report.

He said their decisions will then be forwarded to the National Covid-19 Taskforce which will give the final guidance.
