Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital community were left in shock and grief after the death of Dr Rukia Abura who was discovered dead in her room.
Dr Abura, 30, a senior health officer at the hospital who was pursuing a master’s degree in Anaesthesiology at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) was found dead in her room in Mbarara city.
Dr Celestine Barigye, the Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital director, disclosed that Abura who was well and expected on duty was found dead in her room by a neighbor who noticed that the deceased was not opening to go to work which was her daily routine.
Dr Barigye added that the neighbour tried to check only to find the deceased on her bed unconscious and then she informed the hospital administration which dispatched an emergency medical service (EMS) team, who rushed to the deceased residence but the team couldn’t save their own as she had already breathed her last.
The Police were informed and a team of detectives with support from the doctors, later took the body to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem.
Relatedly, Police in Rubirizi District have found a secondary school teacher dead in his single rented house.
The deceased is 29-year-old Aaron Anyine, a teacher at Ndekye Secondary School in Rubirizi Town Council and it is alleged that on Sunday, the deceased complained of a severe headache but spent Monday normally, conducting classes.
Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson Marcial Tumusiime said they have started investigations to ascertain what could have killed him.
