President Yoweri Museveni has donated sh100m towards the construction of Kigezi High School’s centenary multipurpose building.

This was during the centenary celebrations of the school in Kabale District over the weekend where he was represented by Vice President Jessica Alupo at the celebrations that were led by Gaddie Akanjuna, the Bishop of Kigezi Diocese.

Alupo also contributed sh20m, according to her press secretary Pamela Ankunda.

Museveni said he was happy to join the school’s administration, staff, old students, parents, students and its well-wishers to mark the centennial celebrations of what he called a great institution of learning.

He noted that since its founding in 1922, Kigezi High School has stood proud, as a beacon of enlightenment and transformation, in Kigezi and Uganda.

He said the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government remains focused on achieving the goal of a healthy and educated human resource, by promoting mass education and immunisation campaigns.

He urged the administrators to integrate career guidance sessions into the school curriculum to help students choose subjects that are relevant to the job market in the private sector such as science subjects, mathematics and ICT.

Some of the prominent old boys of Kigezi High School include the former Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda, the state minister for industry & Ndorwa West MP David Bahati and former Deputy Attorney General Mwesigwa Rukutana.
