SEVEN DEAD IN BUSHENYI – MBARARA HIGHWAY MORNING ACCIDENT.

Today’s road accident has claimed the lives of seven people and left two others seriously injured following a crash in Sheema Municipality.
The fatal accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, April 25, 2026, at around 6:30 a.m. at Rushara in Kabwohe along the busy Mbarara–Bushenyi Highway.
According to police, the crash involved a motor vehicle, registration number UA 702DL, a black Toyota Fielder, which was travelling from Bushenyi towards Mbarara at the time of the incident.
The Acting Greater Bushenyi Region Police spokesperson, SP Apollo Tayebwa, confirmed the incident, stating that seven occupants of the vehicle died on the spot, while two others sustained critical injuries and were rushed to ICOBI Hospital for medical attention.
Preliminary reports indicate that the victims were returning home after attending overnight prayers at St. Rose Catholic Church in the areas of Rukinga, Kabingo, Kitooha, and Karushegu.
By press time, the identities of the deceased had not yet been officially confirmed.
The bodies were taken to Kabwohe Health Centre III mortuary for postmortem examination.
