The Mbarara city Mayor Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi has declined the roumours that Mbarara city council will sell Mbarara Independence Park as it has been circulating on social media as soon as vendors vacate the area.
The City mayor Robert Mugabe made the remarks during a press conference today at Mbarara city council.
Kakyeebezi noted that as the city leadership they are now focused on beautifying the park as soon as the vendor leaves.
He castigated that the contractor of the central market ROKO Construction limited had financial problems which caused delays in the construction but ROKO has already tendered in their guarantees to the ministry of Local government and now they are on the final stages.
Kakyebezi says that earlier the minister for Local government had given the contractor up to 29th of May, 2021 to finish up the 21 billion projecs or else their contract be terminated but they have agreed for more time to complete the works.
