A 58-year-old man has been struck dead and two others injured by lightning in Rukungiri district.

The deceased was identified as Patrick Gareeba, a resident of Nyakitabata village in Bugangari sub-county.

Emily Kyoheire, one of the area residents, told our reporter that the tragedy occurred in Mukatooma trading centre during a drizzle yesterday evening.

At the time, the deceased had taken shelter together with Evas Korugyendo, 57, and Harriet Tugume, 58, both from the same residence, who sustained injuries thereafter.
